About Us
The Hesemans family moved to the Sossusvlei region and developed tourism in the area shortly after Namibia’s independence and long before Sossusvlei became a famous tourist attraction. After building several lodges and founding Namib Sky Balloon Safaris, the family has witnessed over 3 decades of change in its community.
With tourism on the rise, the local community is rapidly growing and the need for education and other services are on the rise. The Hesemans family founded the Namib Sky Community trust to fill this gap, the trust is focused on improving the lives of our beloved Sossusvlei community through education, economic empowerment, and sustainability.
Our Vision
Provide hope, inspiration, and opportunities through the introduction of comprehensive education to disadvantaged children of preschool and primary school age.
This education is complemented by various projects to economically empower families and break the cycle of poverty in previously disadvantaged communities.
Our Mission
Introduce a safe, healthy, stimulating and child-friendly environment for quality Early Childhood Education in the local community of Sossusvlei and provide opportunities for community members to earn a first or additional income through income generating projects.
Our Philosophy
The school environment provides a context that stimulates the children’s curiosity and leads to knowledge in total security. The center also emphasizes practical learning by introducing lessons such as cooking, gardening and environmental education, social manners, and hygiene.
Combined with medical and psychological care, parenting support, and a nutritional program it assures healthy, educational, and social development for our children and has significant impact on the community of Sossusvlei as a whole.
